\nSmidrove, a Czech group of mostly visual artists whose main activities occurred from about 1955-1966, developed a philosophy of the estetiku divnosti. Designed to drive every situation to its radical end, whereby what is serious\/trivial, real\/imaginary loose binary certainty, this aesthetic programme incites a play of paradox and mystification that proposes and arouses the conditions for experiencing “the wonderful”.<\/p>\n
